What type of house clean up is needed after treatment for tapeworms?
-
Cleaning the house after tapeworms should include vacuuming thoroughly, and making sure to clean areas where the cat has been including the couch, bed, kennel or areas that your cat naps. Tapeworms and their eggs are susceptible to heat so steam cleaning and washing clothing/pet beds in hot water is recommended. It is best to clean the litter box as soon as possible following a bowel movement to remove any eggs or worms left in fecal matter. Please talk to your veterinarian about any further questions or concerns.
