Cefa-Drops (cefadroxil) Rx
Cefa-Drops (cefadroxil)
Cefa-Drops is a prescription oral medication for dogs and cats that contains cefadroxil, a cephalosporin antibiotic. Cefadroxil is bactericidal, and kills certain gram-negative and positive bacteria by penetrating and breaking down their cell walls, making them susceptible. Cefa-Drops are used in the treatment of infections of the genitourinary tract (cystitis), skin (cellulitis, dermatitis, pyoderma), as well as infected wounds and abscesses. If your pet has been diagnosed with an infection, your veterinarian may prescribe an oral antibiotic such as Cefa-Drops for treatment. Orange-pineapple flavored. Cefa-Drops comes as a powder that is mixed with water to form 50 mg/mL strength, and is available in 15mL and 50mL bottles.

is tsefalen ana cefadroxil the same medication but with a different trade name?
-
Tsefalen (brand named cefalexin monohydrate) is a commercially-available vet antibiotic available in Europe. Cefadroxil is an antibiotic in the same cephalosporin drug class as cefalexin. These antibiotics are not equivalent and will be prescribed based on the type of infection you’re needing to treat. In the United States, cephalexin monohydrate is available as a human-labeled product and is used to treat infections in small animal companions. Please consult with your veterinarian to determine the most appropriate therapy for your pet. Thank you, VetRxDirect
