Cat Loves It!
From NC, USAComments about Cat LaxI have only had this product for a couple of weeks, but my cat luvs it. He luvs the stuff so much it's almost annoying because he let's you know he hasn't had it for the day. The only reason I didn't give the product a 5 start is because I really haven't had it long enough to see if it actually helps his hairball issue. -
Finally! Kitties like this one!
From Carrollton, TX, USAComments about Cat LaxMy little kitty is an over-groomer (don't worry, she's been thoroughly checked by her vet many times; there are no underlying health issues) and fighting hairballs is a constant problem. Well, cleaning up the up-chucked hairballs is the real issue. After trying many, many brands, flavors, textures, she finally decided this is the one she likes and is more than willing to lick it off my finger. My other kitty, a long hair foundling, will eat anything, but even he was picky about hairball "goop." Fortunately, he likes this brand as well. I was especially pleased to find this product at a much lower cost than at my vet's. I can buy more tubes at a time so I don't worry about running out. I also like that when I do loose my mind and forget to order, processing and shipping is so quick that even when I'm done to one tube, I know VetRxDirect will have me resupplied in plenty of time. -

From St Johns, MI, USAComments about Cat LaxI couldn't get Lax'aire, so I finally tried Cat Lax. I am very pleased with it and my cat loves it, besides it wasn't as expensive as the other one. It came in 3 days, despite the holidays. -

Just right!
From Indianapolis, IN, USAComments about Cat LaxI have been using "Catlax" for a few years now. My Vet switched to an inferior brand. I recently purchased it from VetRX. Its even cheaper and still the fine nutritious product that has helped my Cat not have hairball issues. He loves the taste!-

Q & A
-
I've just started using Cat Lax for vomiting due to hair balls. I have followed the manufacturers recommendations and the cat has not vomited since starting the medication. As I was doing research on possible side effects for long-term use, I discovered this product has been discontinued. I would like to know why it has been discontinued and if there are any safety concerns I should be aware of. Thank you?
-
Cat Lax was previously discontinued, but is available on the market again. Cat Lax is generally well tolerated, but some side effects exist. The most commonly noted side effect is diarrhea. Long term, frequent use may result in a decrease in the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, K). As always, please consult your veterinarian If you notice your cat has any persistent or worsening health concerns.

Has Catlax been discontinued and if so what is a good alternative??
-
Cat Lax has not been discontinued. It is still being manufactured.

does the cat lick the medicine? or let it absorb ? does it come with directions on how to use ??
-
Cat Lax is an over the counter medication used to help eliminate and prevent hairballs in cats. This is an oral medication that the cat will lick and eat. The manufacturer recommended dosing is a one inch strip squeezed from the tube once per day. For prevention of hairballs the same amount should be given 2 to 3 times per week instead of every day. Cat Lax has a pleasant taste, but if your cat is a picky eater, Cat Lax can be placed directly on the paw to help them get accustomed to the taste. Contact your veterinarian with dosing or administration questions specific to your cat.

Can this be given to a 3 month old kitten. Safely?
-
The manufacturer indicates no adverse effects outside a potential allergic reaction. The manufacturer did note that the labeled dose is indicative of an average sized adult cat and that a young kitten may benefit with just half of this amount. Thank you, VetRxDirect

will I have a problem getting my cat to take cat lax? my past experiences are that the product ends up on the wall or the fridge.?

Every pet reacts differently to different products so we wouldn't be able to say for sure. We have never had anyone tell us of any issues though. You could always try to contact the manufacturer to see if they have had any complaints about the product as well. Thank you, VetRxDirect

Is this product good for 3week old constipated kitten??
-
Cat LaxⓇ is indicated for the elimination and prevention of hairballs in cats and the dosing for this indication has been established for average-weight adult cats. The dosing and use of Cat LaxⓇ for constipation in kittens has not been established. You should speak with your pet’s veterinarian about other medication and dietary options for constipation in kittens. For example, some veterinarians prefer to use Miralax for constipation in kittens, but the use and dose of this medication or any other medication will need to be determined by your pet’s veterinarian based on your pet’s diagnosis. Thank you, VetRxDirect

CAN CAT LAX MAKE MY CAT SICK VOMITING JUST WATER? THANK YOU?
-
Buddy, The manufacturer only lists diarrhea as a reported side effect. The company does warn to not force feed the Cat Lax as aspiration of the product into the lungs can cause serious damage. If your cat is continuing to vomit, we recommend discontinuing the product and contacting your veterinarian. Thank you, VetRxDirect

cat appears to be constipated how long till cat lax takes effect?
-
Bob, Lubricant laxatives such as Cat Lax work by lubricating the feces for easier removal and less straining. Normally, they should begin to work in 6 to 8 hours and result in a bowel movement anytime following this period. If the cat remains constipated for a period of time, and the Cat Lax does not seem to work, contact your pet's veterinarian right away. Thank you, VetRxDirect
