From Greenville, NCComments about Baytril (enrofloxacin)My pup has a kidney infection, this med is expensive when you're needing weeks worth. My guy is hip to taking meds so we've cut these in half and stuck inside of the GNC chicken flavor pill pockets.

My vet has prescribed Baytril (and supplied it in 20mg tablets) for my 5 year old cat (who has a severe blood infection) and he will be on it for 2 to 4 months. I've been giving him the Baytrill, crushed up in his food, with plenty of water mixed in, but just read on your site that the chewables should not be crushed. I had mentioned how I was getting him to take his daily dose to my vet, who didn't mention anything about not crushing the tablets. Is this just for the chewable variety? If yes, do you sell the non-chewable tablets??
-
The package insert from the manufacturer states that Baytril taste tabs should be hand-administered when giving this medication to a cat. VetRxDirect does offer the film-coated tablets, however, these should not be crushed either. Please contact your veterinarian for specifics on administering Baytril to your cat.

Do I need a prescription from vet??
-
Claire, Baytril is a prescription medication that requires approval from a licensed United States veterinarian to dispense. We can accept the prescription a couple of different ways. Once an order is placed, we can fax over to the clinic for approval, which they can then fax back, or the veterinarian may choose to issue you a written prescription when you can then mail in to us. Once we have the prescription, we will process and ship your order. Thank you, VetRxDirect
