Good product for my elderly dog
My elderly dog has mild kidney dysfunction and this medication alleviates her symptoms of excessive thirst and frequent urination. It's expensive and needs to be kept refrigerated. Buying it online through Vet RX is much more economical than buying it at the Vet's. I was concerned about shipping something that needs to be kept cold. Vet RX did an excellent job and I bought 90 days worth at a time and will continue to do so as long as needed.

Would not recommend
I recommend not buying this product. The capsule is to big for a cat. It is highly recommended not breaking the capsule open and putting on your cats food. This medication needs to be ingested whole.
I tried putting this capsule in a pill pocket, which did not work. My cat broke the capsule open in her mouth. Maybe 45 minutes to an hour later, my cat was walking and completely lost her balance and just fell on her side 2 different times. My cat became very fatigued and unresponsive.
I tried every way with giving my cat this capsule, and all were unsuccessful. The only part that concerns is the above statement with my cat becoming fatigued, unresponsive, and just falling over 2 different times. I saw in my cats eye she was not good. I cannot and will not use this product.
I am disappointed in the fact that nothing is described as possible side effects. If those were stated, I would not have purchased or tried this product.

An Excellent Product
From San Francisco, CAComments about AzodylOur 13yr old Cavalier was going into kidney failure. The vet suggested rehydrating her twice a week. Instead, we put her on Azodyl which, together with a careful diet and some herbal remedies and supplements, has turned her into an exuberant puppy! A whole new lease on life -- thanks to Azodyl. -
Still too large for pill-popping
From Knoxville, TN, USAComments about AzodylOrdered in hopes this would help our cat who was diagnosed with Acute Renal Failure. Capsules are still a little too large for easy pill-popping even coated with butter or cream cheese. Not recommended that capsules be opened to mix with foods. Even using a burrito wrap to pill-pop our guy, didn't help. He was still able to flick the capsule back out of his mouth. Gelatin capsule would start to dissolve on 2nd-3rd attempt. Didn't use product long enough to evaluate it's effectiveness. -
My kitty was sent home to die...
From LA, CAComments about AzodylMy 16 year old cat suddenly [like - over a 2 days period] went from looking normal to "oh-my-goodness-let's-get-to-the-emergency-vet-now!!!!' about 3 months ago. When he went in, his BUN/creatinine was about 3x the high end of normal. Even after 4 days of in-hospital IV fluids, it was still high. My traditional vet sent me home with half a bag of saline and 4 cans of food - I really felt like he had no hope for the cat. After reading about kidney failure in cats, I decided to go to the 'alternative' vet, and she gave him Azodyl & Phos-Bind. He got better and more stable over the next few weeks. Suddenly, I realized I was running out of both, and the cat was doing well, and I had no time to get to the second vet, so I shopped online. VetRXdirect's price is Significantly lower than I paid the vet - I think a 50% mark-up is a bit steep. VetRXdirect will let me afford to care for this guy as long as he wants to stick around - Thank You so much!!!! -
Hopeful
From Iowa, USAComments about AzodylI started my 5-year-old kidney cat on Azodyl 6 months after original diagnosis. At that point her BUN/creatinine were 56 and 2.5 with fluids once a week. Directions called for 3 pills a day for her weight, but I started off with 2, 1 morning and 1 evening, and she was vomiting a lot, not from pill stuck in throat but several hours after pill. I cut her back to once a day, although she weighs 16 lbs, and the vomiting slowed to sometimes overnight just clear fluid. The big change in her has been her eating habits. For whatever reason, she doesn't want the same food she was eating before and wants only food that isn't that great for kidneys. Anyway, at 3 months after starting Azodyl her renal panel showed BUN/creatinine were 55 and 2.3, 4.5 phosphorus. So, not much change, but it's not worse either. Her original BUN/creatinine 10 months ago at diagnosis were 117/9.8. She is doing well. I'll continue with 1 a day for now. -
Great Price!
From Eden, NY, USAComments about AzodylI have bought this item twice in the last 4 months. Fast delivery! Great customer service! Had a problem with the first order with the shipping address (could have been my mistake) however, a replacement order was shipped immediately at no additional charge. Price is the best out there - I checked them all - and always coupons available which makes the price even better! -

Working great!
From Tucson, AZ, USAComments about AzodylMy 14 year old German Shepard mix was diagnosed with kidney disease 5 months ago. Our vet recommended Azodyl along with RenAvast. She has been taking both and doing great. We have not had follow-up bloodwork done yet, but no signs of the disease progressing. I buy all of the supplements and medications I can through VetRxDirect. They have awesome customer service and shipping charges/times are very reasonable. Best prices I have found and the only online pharmacy my vet recommends. -

Hi, what is the expiration date if I order today and is this product returnable??
-
Our stock generally turns over fairly rapidly. The expiration date of over-the-counter orders is double-checked prior to shipment. If you have specific concerns about a particular order before you order, you can contact our pharmacy via email at [email protected]. Azodyl requires special cold-packed shipping, and unfortunately, we cannot accept returns on refrigerated items.

Does azodyl help with cat uti ??
-
According to the manufacturer, Azodyl does not provide any benefit with treatment or prevention of urinary tract infections. Azodyl binds to the nitrogenous waste from the kidneys and disposes of them through feces. This helps support kidney health in pets by reducing toxin build up in the body. Please consult your veterinarian with any additional questions or concerns regarding this medication.

Can I give Azydol probiotics along with proviable forte, DC probiotics? Or is it recommended that you only give as Azydol probiotic for your pet with renal Failure? Usually I give the proviable DC when I give my dog his meal. Also I notice Azodyl gives my dog really stinky farts. Giving him to a day makes him do a lot of stretching of his stomach so I cut back too to one right now but for the first three months so his body can adjust.?

Azodyl is a supplement that helps support kidney health by flushing out toxins in the bowel and blood in dogs. The manufacturer recommends giving 1 capsule daily for dogs weighing <5 lbs, 1 capsule twice daily for dogs 5-10 lbs, and 3 capsules daily (2 in the morning and 1 in the evening) for dogs >10 lbs. Proviable-DC is another probiotic that helps firm stools and reduce diarrhea caused by intestinal upset. Generally, probiotics are well tolerated, however, taking too many probiotics can cause bloating and gas. It is recommended that you speak with your veterinarian about giving both probiotics, they will be able to provide the best recommendation as they have a full history of your dog’s health.

Is it okay if I give my cat one capsule at 1 pm and the next pill at 1 am? As I have to work 12 hours and there's no other feasible time?
-
It would be fine to give one capsule at 1 PM and one capsule at 1 AM. It is best to take Azodyl on an empty stomach and it is recommended that if it is given twice a day it be given in two separate doses. Please contact your veterinarian about any questions or concerns you may have regarding this product and your cat.

Can Azodyl be put in a supplement like methigel or is there something else to encourage them to take the caps thanks?
-
According to the manufacturer, Azodyl capsules should be administered whole and not opened or crushed. Administer at least one hour before the main meal. Wrapping the capsule in a pill wrap or with just enough food to administer would be acceptable as long as it is separated from the main meal by an hour. The manufacturer does not provide information about the use of this supplement in conjunction with Methigel. Please contact your veterinarian before administering these products to your pet.
