Good product for my elderly dog
My elderly dog has mild kidney dysfunction and this medication alleviates her symptoms of excessive thirst and frequent urination. It's expensive and needs to be kept refrigerated. Buying it online through Vet RX is much more economical than buying it at the Vet's. I was concerned about shipping something that needs to be kept cold. Vet RX did an excellent job and I bought 90 days worth at a time and will continue to do so as long as needed.

Would not recommend
I recommend not buying this product. The capsule is to big for a cat. It is highly recommended not breaking the capsule open and putting on your cats food. This medication needs to be ingested whole.
I tried putting this capsule in a pill pocket, which did not work. My cat broke the capsule open in her mouth. Maybe 45 minutes to an hour later, my cat was walking and completely lost her balance and just fell on her side 2 different times. My cat became very fatigued and unresponsive.
I tried every way with giving my cat this capsule, and all were unsuccessful. The only part that concerns is the above statement with my cat becoming fatigued, unresponsive, and just falling over 2 different times. I saw in my cats eye she was not good. I cannot and will not use this product.
I am disappointed in the fact that nothing is described as possible side effects. If those were stated, I would not have purchased or tried this product.

Excellent Results
From Tampa, FLComments about AzodylI have a foster Pomeranian who has kidney stones and bladder cancer (TCC). He previously had bladder stones that were removed and has had a UTI that has persisted since January in spite of multiple rounds of antibiotics and natural supplements (d-mannose, cranimals, and UTR). I read a recommendation from a holistic website for Azodyl and Paxon to support kidney health so I purchased them because the NSAID prescribed for TCC can be tough on the kidneys. My dog is 12 lbs. and I give him 1 unopened Azodyl capsule 1 hr. before breakfast and 1 hour before dinner in a very small amount of fermented raw goat's milk. The product recommends 3 capsules daily for his weight, but I opted to go with 2 since he's on the cusp of the weight range, and the product is somewhat expensive. I give him 1/2 of a tablet of the Paxon in his breakfast -- again this is less than the recommended dose of 1 tablet daily for his weight. I tested his urine with a test strip after 10 days on these new supplements, and for the first time since January, there was no blood in his urine! This is not what I was targeting with the products, but I will take it! He has great energy and is very lively. I'll also add that I looked at other online retailers to purchase these products from; but I went with VetRX in hopes the package would arrive cold to Florida since the Azodyl is heat sensitive. The shipping was quick, and the packaging was amazing. It arrived very cold with a still solidly frozen ice pack inside despite the brutal Florida heat. Kudos all around! #sweepstakes-

I will continue to buy this product
From UndisclosedComments about AzodylA holistic vet recommended this for my 17 year old cat with CRF. I give her an unopened capsule twice daily about an hour before she eats. Even though her creatinine keeps rising and is now approaching 6 she still feels good and eats and even gained a little weight. I really do think this product has made a difference in her quality of life. -
Will buy again.
From UndisclosedComments about AzodylWish I didn't have to give, but I believe it is making a difference. -
Highly recommend for kidney failure
From UndisclosedComments about AzodylI believe this and a change in diet has brought my 15 year old dog back from the brink of death after she was diagnosed with late stage kidney failure. -
Excellent Company
From undisclosedComments about AzodylThis for my Kitty Maxine. She has Renal disease. This product helps her kidneys work better. I have used vetted direct for about 6 years. They are excellent to work with, I am very happy I found them. -
Azodyl is helping.
From undisclosedComments about AzodylAzodyl is helping my CKD senior cat. I use it twice a day along with Epakitin twice a day. He has become more playful, alert, more athletic, like when he was younger. He refused to eat the prescription diets. We tried them all. So putting Epakitin on his canned foods helps block the phosphorus. VetRxDirect got the product to my door overnight. Thank you! -

Efficient service
From undisclosedComments about AzodylThis was a product that had to be kept refrigerated. It was sent the next day, and the cold pack was still chilled. -
An inportant part of a kidney plan.
From undisclosedComments about AzodylTo be fair, I am using this product in conjunction with several other things...so my review is not entirely scientific. My 12 year old cat was recently diagnosed with stage 3 or 4 kidney disease. He lost a lot of weight and looked dingy. Within ten days of my new routine, the cat has gained one pound and is lively and grooming himself again. Here's my (human nurse , not a vet) routine: Azodyl am and pm- make sure to pull the cat as the contents need to reach the intestines to work. He also gets a phosphorus binding powder with soft food twice a day along with fish oil and a multi vitamin. My best has prescribed me to give 100/125 ml of subcutaneous lactated ringers daily. I did buy the kidney diet from the vet, but he is allowed to eat whatever he wants, as weight gain and calories are needed. I have been giving him baby food (canned meat pate) along with whatever else he will eat . I did have a concern as per the temperature of the product when received and I was immediately mailed a new, cold package. Hope this helps. I did a lot of research prior to starting my plan. -
Good buy
From undisclosedComments about AzodylThese are called small caps but are still enormous. They're very difficult for my cat to eat. The shipping was fast and the refrigerated packaging was great.

Hi, what is the expiration date if I order today and is this product returnable??
-
Our stock generally turns over fairly rapidly. The expiration date of over-the-counter orders is double-checked prior to shipment. If you have specific concerns about a particular order before you order, you can contact our pharmacy via email at [email protected]. Azodyl requires special cold-packed shipping, and unfortunately, we cannot accept returns on refrigerated items.

Does azodyl help with cat uti ??
-
According to the manufacturer, Azodyl does not provide any benefit with treatment or prevention of urinary tract infections. Azodyl binds to the nitrogenous waste from the kidneys and disposes of them through feces. This helps support kidney health in pets by reducing toxin build up in the body. Please consult your veterinarian with any additional questions or concerns regarding this medication.

Can I give Azydol probiotics along with proviable forte, DC probiotics? Or is it recommended that you only give as Azydol probiotic for your pet with renal Failure? Usually I give the proviable DC when I give my dog his meal. Also I notice Azodyl gives my dog really stinky farts. Giving him to a day makes him do a lot of stretching of his stomach so I cut back too to one right now but for the first three months so his body can adjust.?

Azodyl is a supplement that helps support kidney health by flushing out toxins in the bowel and blood in dogs. The manufacturer recommends giving 1 capsule daily for dogs weighing <5 lbs, 1 capsule twice daily for dogs 5-10 lbs, and 3 capsules daily (2 in the morning and 1 in the evening) for dogs >10 lbs. Proviable-DC is another probiotic that helps firm stools and reduce diarrhea caused by intestinal upset. Generally, probiotics are well tolerated, however, taking too many probiotics can cause bloating and gas. It is recommended that you speak with your veterinarian about giving both probiotics, they will be able to provide the best recommendation as they have a full history of your dog’s health.

what happens when an animal cannot swallow the capsule and it breaks open? Is there any danger to the animal??

Azodyl is a supplement that helps support kidney health in dogs and cats. Azodyl capsules have an acid resistant coating to prevent them from being dissolved in the stomach and therefore absorbed in the intestine. Is it okay if I give my cat one capsule at 1 pm and the next pill at 1 am? As I have to work 12 hours and there's no other feasible time?
-
It would be fine to give one capsule at 1 PM and one capsule at 1 AM. It is best to take Azodyl on an empty stomach and it is recommended that if it is given twice a day it be given in two separate doses. Please contact your veterinarian about any questions or concerns you may have regarding this product and your cat.

Can Azodyl be put in a supplement like methigel or is there something else to encourage them to take the caps thanks?
-
According to the manufacturer, Azodyl capsules should be administered whole and not opened or crushed. Administer at least one hour before the main meal. Wrapping the capsule in a pill wrap or with just enough food to administer would be acceptable as long as it is separated from the main meal by an hour. The manufacturer does not provide information about the use of this supplement in conjunction with Methigel. Please contact your veterinarian before administering these products to your pet.
