What happens if I keep using this product on my dog months after opening before expiration date? Would it still be safe??

The ophthalmic solution eyewash is a sterile product. Once opened the product is no longer sterile and the risk of infection increases. This product is 98.3% sterile water that once in contact with air it can begin to develop bacteria. For this reason, it is recommended to use this product once and immediately after opening to administer the solution while sterile. The product should be discarded 6 hours after opening. Continued use after this timeframe is not recommended. Please consult your veterinarian if you have any further questions regarding this product.
