NOT a Gel for animals
Vet rec. this to help my cat in renal failure. NOTE: This is Not a gel, but a Milky MINT liquid containing sorbitol and saccharin obviously created for human consumption. All the labeling on the bottle is directed at human consumption. My cat hates it. She runs from me since I've been trying to give it to her. Worse than a Waste of time and money, since she's skittish of me now. Unhappy cat. Unhappy owner. Do NOT recommend either this product or this site since they will not help me and refuse to correct the description of the product.

Nope. My dog wasn't having anything to do with it
From UndisclosedComments about Aluminum Hydroxide GelTried to give this to a dog via syringe. I failed. It was a runny sticky liquid, had a super strong artificial mint smell/flavor, and he was having nothing to do with it. Not the right choice for us. Also not anywhere close to a "gel"... It's milky -
Nope. My dog wasn't having anything to do with it
From Lancaster, PAComments about Aluminum Hydroxide GelMy attempt to use this was a fail. My dog (100lbs of stubborn) needed quite a large dose as prescribed by his vet. He smelled it and ran, and even though I tried the "shoot it into his mouth with a syringe" method, he wasn't having any of it. It is not a gel. It is a milky white, drippy and sticky sort of liquid. Didn't work for us. In the end it wasn't all that expensive so I don't mind that we can't use it. It was worth a try before buying the more expensive powdered form. -
Working well for our Dog!
From UndisclosedComments about Aluminum Hydroxide GelWe began using Aluminum Hydroxide Gel with our dog who has high phosphorus levels due to kidney disease. After our local pharmacy's vendor could not access this product any more, we found it at VetRxDirect. The price is great, shipping is fast. It has helped our dog--although he does not like the mint flavor, so we mix it with a tablespoon of canned food and he will then take it in small amounts from a syringe. Your veterinarian is the one to suggest a dosage based on your pet's lab results. -
Beware it is mint flavor-not dog friendly
From UndisclosedComments about Aluminum Hydroxide GelUnfortunately the description did not note that this was mint flavor so my dog would not take it at all. He hated it. Yesterday I was told by a friend to try and pour the liquid onto bread and maybe he would take the bread which he did today. We'll see if he does again tomorrow!? Vet direct said I could return for refund which was very nice. We'll see. -
Great product
From IllinoisComments about Aluminum Hydroxide GelMy dog has kidney disease. I was buying this from my vet for double the price! So glad I found this site. Just take a syringe and measure 5 ml and shoot it down his throat. No big deal. My dog kind of likes mints. He would eat the mint dog chews I got for his breath. -
I would buy this product again.
From undisclosedComments about Aluminum Hydroxide GelUsed on veterinarian request for feline dietary supplement. The cost is about 1/4 what we were paying through the veterinarian. -
I love this company!

I have a prescription for this product 320mg/5ml. Is this one safe for dogs? I've been to a few pharmacies and theirs has xylitol in it which can kill a dog.?
-
The Aluminum Hydroxide Gel that we currently carry [February 2020] does not contain xylitol and is manufactured by Rugby. The ingredients in the product are as follows: Aluminum Hydroxide, Benzyl Alcohol, Butylparaben, Flavor, Glycerin, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Propylparaben, Purified Water, Saccharin Sodium, Simethicone Emulsion, Sorbitol Solution. This is also a generic product, though, and VetRxDirect cannot guarantee to have the same manufacturer each time. Our pharmacists do check our drugs for ingredients that may be harmful to cats and dogs. If you have questions about using this drug, it is recommended that you speak with your veterinarian to determine if this product is safe for use by your dog.

Is this product gelatinous, a liquid, a powder, or what? I am confused, sorry!?
-
The manufacturer states that the product has gel properties but is in solution form. This medication is taken like a liquid. For further questions regarding this product and whether it’s appropriate for your pet, please speak to your veterinarian.
Verified Answer -
The "gel" is a milky liquid. (Which is mint flavored, like toothpaste) I have no idea who's definition of gel they used. The product also comes in a powdered form. The powder is very fine, and has no taste.

THe product Phos-bind that comes in powder, is that typically mixed with water to turn it into liquid gel? Or is it just added to the food as a powder??
-
Phos-bind is usually administered to pets by adding the powdered medication onto the food. This helps by binding the phosphorus from the meal that your pet is eating. If you have any additional questions about possible ways to administer Phos-bind or aluminum hydroxide gel to your pet please contact your veterinarian.
