Q & A
-
will this shampoo remove topical flea and tick medication heart guard multi ??
-
Moxidectin is used to kill parasitic worms and to prevent and control heartworm and intestinal worms. It is absorbed after 60 to 90 minutes of application. Once it is absorbed, it cannot be washed off by the aloe and oatmeal shampoo and conditioner. Imidacloprid remains topical and will kill through contact. Your concern regarding washing off this part of the product is valid. Shampooing 90 minutes or even up to 4 days after treatment does not reduce the effectiveness in the prevention of heartworms and fleas. Shampooing as often as once weekly may reduce the effectiveness. If shampooing is needed, a non-soap/non-detergent shampoo such as the aloe and oatmeal by Sogeval would be an appropriate choice to help prevent the removal of the imidacloprid. Talk with your pet's veterinarian regarding any use of new products and how they may interact with your pet’s medications. Thank you, VetRxDirect
