What is the AeroKat Feline Aerosol Chamber for Cats?
- The AeroKat Feline Aerosol Chamber delivers inhaled medication into your cat's lungs to help them breathe easier.
- The AeroKat Feline Aerosol Chamber is designed for puffer or Metered Dose Inhalers to administer aerosol medications.
Why is the AeroKat Feline Aerosol Chamber used for cats?
- The AeroKat Feline Aerosol Chamber makes administering aerosol medications easier by combining a special chamber and a contoured mask that work together with a prescription "puffer" inhaler.
- The mask fits snuggly over your cat's mouth and nose, and the convenient Flow-vu indicator moves with respiration so you can track the dosage your cat receives.
- The aerosol medication mixes with air in the chamber and helps ensure that your cat will breathe the drug into the lungs instead of swallowing it.
What else should I know about the AeroKat Feline Aerosol Chamber?
- AeroKat works with most puffer or Metered Dose Inhalers (MDI).
- AeroKat does not work with dry-powder inhalers.
- The Flow-vu indicator takes the guesswork of dosing.
- AeroKat is easy to clean.
- The chamber comes with two mask sizes to fit any cat.
- The medication is sold separately.
- Metered Dose Inhalers can be prescribed by your veterinarian and purchased from VetRxDirect.
- It is recommended the AeroKat Chamber be replaced every 12 months. With daily use, medication can deposit on the valves creating a whitish film. This build-up could lead to suboptimal performance over time. To help ensure optimal drug delivery the manufacturer recommends the AeroKat chamber be replaced annually.
- The AeroKat comes with two sizes of feline masks – approximately 1.5" and 2" in diameter - to fit most cats. A larger 3" mask can be purchased separately.
- You can check the size you need by printing this AeroKat Mask Sizer (PDF)
What problems could my cat have with the AeroKat Feline Aerosol Chamber?
- With daily use, medication can deposit on the valves creating a whitish film. This build-up could lead to suboptimal performance over time. Make sure that you clean the AeroKat regularly and replace it yearly.
How do you use the AeroKat Feline Aerosol Chamber?
- This device should be used only on the recommendation of your veterinarian. Consult with your veterinarian for advice and instructions.

Controlled My Cat's Suffering
I have been using the AeroKat Asthma Chamber for over 7 years now. I had 2 cats that suffered from asthma (and suffering it myself, it broke my heart knowing how they felt). Prior to AeroKat, they were getting Depo shots every 3 months, so they had to be tested for diabetes, etc. It also caused them great stress going to the vet for a shot so often.
I expected to have a severe problem getting them to accept the inhalater, but letting them smell it for several days it turned out to be no problem. With the AeroKat Chamber, the medication is going directly into their lungs where they need it, and not throughout their bodies and causing damage to other organs.
Bless you Trudell for this wonderful invention!

ATTENTION ALL ORIENTAL SHORTHAIR & SIAMESE OWNERS!!
I cannot say whether the AeroKat on its own is a good or bad product, but what I can say is that if you have an Oriental Shorthair (or Siamese I would imagine), even the small mask may not be a tight, and sealed fit. Not sure if it has more to do with the long muzzle, or the general size of my kitty's face. We haven't even started the meds yet, but we have been training with the small mask for a while now. My cat is usually pretty compliant with meds, and things being done to her, but even with treat rewards, she is not adapting well to the mask. Could be because the mask ends up fitting her all the way to her eyes. This is very frustrating, as I really would like to see if the meds help her extremely bad coughing, and assumed asthma. I'm giving the product three stars, only because it SEEMS like a good idea. Sorry, if you have an "angle head" style cat, and this discourages you. I just know I would have liked a warning before getting my hopes up.

Gets the job done
From undisclosedComments about AeroKatVery useful product. A little clunky when having to use it in a hurry but that could also be because we're not very used to using it yet. Overall though great product. Good airtight seals to keep medicine going where it's supposed to go. -
Highly Recommend for Asthmatic Cats
From undisclosedComments about AeroKatThis is the perfect chamber to administer Albuterol to an asthmatic cat! I have special needs cats and had one a long time ago. It's important to get your cat used to the nose/mouth mask before you start using it, and also important to keep calm and with a low voice so your cat doesn't get overly stressed while using this. It's definitely worth the money! -
This was a life saver
From undisclosedComments about AeroKatI was very pleasantly surprised at the price of the AeroKat. My kitty is very laid-back and he didn't object to using the cylinder with his treatment fo asthma. -
It was a lot easier than I thought, and, very effective!
From undisclosedComments about AeroKatMy cat has asthma that could not be treated effectively with pills. He needed an inhaler to bring the medication deep into his lungs, where it could do the most good. I was skeptical, when his vet described what needed to be done, but, I could not let my poor boy struggle for air and I did not want to jeopardize his health by using pills that could lead to diabetes. I watched a number of YouTube videos on how to use the device. While waiting for it to arrive in the mail, I practiced placing a similar sized, silicone funnel over his nose and mouth, just so he would get used to the feel of it. I would put a treat or two in there for him to try to get out with his tongue; a smear of his favorite fish-flavored hairball paste inside the funnel also kept him interested. It took about three days, using the AeroKat twice a day, for him to finally settle down and let me medicate him. I found if I leaned back on the sofa, bent my knees up, and held him on my lap, with his back against my knees, he did not struggle as much; I also gently held the back of his neck. It was also more difficult for him to get away by holding him this way. Each time, I immediately wiped his face with a damp cloth and gave him a few treats. Now, all I have to do is shake the treat bag and sit on the sofa; he jumps onto the sofa and I put him on my lap; I already have the apparatus set up so I just shake the inhaler end, hold my hand over his ears, press the dispenser once, and immediately put it over his mouth and nose; I then watch the flapper as it opens and closes and I count off a minimum of ten breaths, more if I can get him to stay. After six days of treatment, my big boy stopped his multiple coughing episodes each day and was down to just once a day; after four more days, he only coughed once. His vet anticipates he will be down to one use a day after 14 days, and they every other day thereafter. -
Works great!
From Northern NevadaComments about AeroKatWe use this device on our elderly and VERY easy going cat. She's not thrilled with the process but doesn't fight us either. Love the little breath flapper/indicator that feature is brilliant! -
LOVE!!!! & so does Peanut
From undisclosedComments about AeroKatThis has helped our little kitty Peanut tremendously. IT comes with 2 sizes of face masks and also a breathing 'sensor" that shows you how many breaths your little baby is taking. It definitely brings peace of mind. VetRx gave us the best deal for the authenticity of the AeroKat brand. And delivery was exceptionally fast! Great shipping and great product. -
Every asthmatic cat needs this!
From undisclosedComments about AeroKatThis product is ready to use out of the box and works 'purrfectly' with metered inhalers. The small mask is ideal for cats, and you can easily see how many breaths your cat takes to ensure they get the proper dosage. It also easily comes apart for cleaning. Highly recommend! -
Good Quality
From undisclosedComments about AeroKatGreat condition, looks like a great product, strong plastic and easy to clean. I am waiting on meds to try it out. -
Have bought it before,so know how good it is.
From undisclosedComments about AeroKatThis is used with an inhaler for cats with Asthma. Works great, especially after the cat gets used to doing this. -
Delayed Funeral
From undisclosedComments about AeroKatThe aerosal chamber with smaller face mask was the answer for my asthmatic cat. While she still isn't thrilled about the inhaler process , she endures my counting the valve door opening and shuting, and is quite happy to devour the treat I have for her as soon as she finishes her dose. In 2 weeks time, we've moved from multiple daily attacks with heavy breathing all the time to 2 attacks I've witnessed in 2 weeks with seemingly normal breathing most of the time, except when the year old cat tears by. I must add that I did pay the extra shipping for overnight delivery since the price was so reasonable. The pharmacist who added that to my order was great and my chamber arrived the next morning. Our pending funeral has been postphoned indefinitely! Cheers to my vet and Aerokat!!!

I have been using AeroKat for my cat for three years. I wonder how long the product last? When shall I replace with the new chamber??

According to the manufacturer, it is recommended to replace the chamber every 12 months; the medication can deposit on the valves creating a film, leading to suboptimal performance over time.

Are the replacement masks for Aerokat compatible with Aerodawg chamber? Why is the price of a medium replacement mask for Aerokat different with a medium replacement mask for Aerodawg? 12.99 and 17.99.?
-
The replacement masks are universal and compatible with both the AeroKat and AeroDawg chambers. We apologize for that price difference and that has since been corrected. All replacement masks for the AeroDawg and AeroKat chambers are now priced the same unless prices change on a future date.

What is the dimension of the connector for the mask? I need to see if this will fit with the unit that I have.?

The small AeroKat mask has an outer diameter of ⅝ inch and an inner diameter of ⅜ inch. The medium mask has an outer diameter of 1 inch and an inner diameter of just over ⅝ inch. How can it be that the flow-vu indicator " does not impact the delivery of medication to your pet?" It seems that the indicator moves whenever the chamber valve is opened, so if the indicator isn't moving doesn't that have to mean that the way to the chamber is still closed, and therefore no medication is being delivered??
-
The flow-vu indicator is designed to help determine how many breaths your cat has taken. The inhalation valve is an extra sensitive, low resistance valve that is designed to respond to shallow low volume breaths. Therefore, this valve opens up during an inhalation to allow the medication to be delivered. The chamber and flow-vu indicator close to prevent medication loss while the cat is exhaling. If the flow-vu indicator on your device does not move at all, be sure the mask is placed securely to your cat’s face. Does the facemask attach firmly to the chamber so that you do not need to hold the facemask? I purchased a Vortex and to my disbelief saw that you must hold the facemask with one hand and the chamber with the other. I guess you hold the cat with your feet.?

Hello, I use a cpap machine for sleep disorders and clean the mask and tubing with the SoClean sanitizing machine. Would using the sanitizer be a good way to clean my cats aerosol chamber too??
-
According to the manufacturer, the AeroKat should only be cleaned by soaking in warm, soapy water with mild liquid dish detergent, rinsed in clean water, and left to air dry. No cleaning data using SoClean on AeroKat exists, thus proper performance of AeroKat may not be guaranteed after cleaning. Please consult your veterinarian for further questions or concerns regarding cleaning instructions.

I know this works perfectly with a puff inhaler, but will it work with a diskus type inhaler??
-
AeroKat is only compatible with metered dose inhalers, also known as "puff" or aerosol type inhalers. Diskus is a dry powder inhaler that does not contain any propellants and the contents are not under pressure, and must be inhaled directly through the device. Diskus also has a mouthpiece designed specifically for human mouths, making it incompatible with chamber devices like the AeroKat.
