What is the AeroKat Feline Aerosol Chamber for Cats?
- The AeroKat Feline Aerosol Chamber delivers inhaled medication into your cat's lungs to help them breathe easier.
- The AeroKat Feline Aerosol Chamber is designed for puffer or Metered Dose Inhalers to administer aerosol medications.
Why is the AeroKat Feline Aerosol Chamber used for cats?
- The AeroKat Feline Aerosol Chamber makes administering aerosol medications easier by combining a special chamber and a contoured mask that work together with a prescription "puffer" inhaler.
- The mask fits snuggly over your cat's mouth and nose, and the convenient Flow-vu indicator moves with respiration so you can track the dosage your cat receives.
- The aerosol medication mixes with air in the chamber and helps ensure that your cat will breathe the drug into the lungs instead of swallowing it.
What else should I know about the AeroKat Feline Aerosol Chamber?
- AeroKat works with most puffer or Metered Dose Inhalers (MDI).
- AeroKat does not work with dry-powder inhalers.
- The Flow-vu indicator takes the guesswork of dosing.
- AeroKat is easy to clean.
- The chamber comes with two mask sizes to fit any cat.
- The medication is sold separately.
- Metered Dose Inhalers can be prescribed by your veterinarian and purchased from VetRxDirect.
- It is recommended the AeroKat Chamber be replaced every 12 months. With daily use, medication can deposit on the valves creating a whitish film. This build-up could lead to suboptimal performance over time. To help ensure optimal drug delivery the manufacturer recommends the AeroKat chamber be replaced annually.
- The AeroKat comes with two sizes of feline masks – approximately 1.5" and 2" in diameter - to fit most cats. A larger 3" mask can be purchased separately.
- You can check the size you need by printing this AeroKat Mask Sizer (PDF)
What problems could my cat have with the AeroKat Feline Aerosol Chamber?
- With daily use, medication can deposit on the valves creating a whitish film. This build-up could lead to suboptimal performance over time. Make sure that you clean the AeroKat regularly and replace it yearly.
How do you use the AeroKat Feline Aerosol Chamber?
- This device should be used only on the recommendation of your veterinarian. Consult with your veterinarian for advice and instructions.

Controlled My Cat's Suffering
I have been using the AeroKat Asthma Chamber for over 7 years now. I had 2 cats that suffered from asthma (and suffering it myself, it broke my heart knowing how they felt). Prior to AeroKat, they were getting Depo shots every 3 months, so they had to be tested for diabetes, etc. It also caused them great stress going to the vet for a shot so often.
I expected to have a severe problem getting them to accept the inhalater, but letting them smell it for several days it turned out to be no problem. With the AeroKat Chamber, the medication is going directly into their lungs where they need it, and not throughout their bodies and causing damage to other organs.
Bless you Trudell for this wonderful invention!

ATTENTION ALL ORIENTAL SHORTHAIR & SIAMESE OWNERS!!
I cannot say whether the AeroKat on its own is a good or bad product, but what I can say is that if you have an Oriental Shorthair (or Siamese I would imagine), even the small mask may not be a tight, and sealed fit. Not sure if it has more to do with the long muzzle, or the general size of my kitty's face. We haven't even started the meds yet, but we have been training with the small mask for a while now. My cat is usually pretty compliant with meds, and things being done to her, but even with treat rewards, she is not adapting well to the mask. Could be because the mask ends up fitting her all the way to her eyes. This is very frustrating, as I really would like to see if the meds help her extremely bad coughing, and assumed asthma. I'm giving the product three stars, only because it SEEMS like a good idea. Sorry, if you have an "angle head" style cat, and this discourages you. I just know I would have liked a warning before getting my hopes up.

Aerokat rocks
From Wood Village, OR, USAComments about AeroKatThis was the second one that I have bought. It is a great product for asthmatic cats. I loved the bright green color. -
Great experience so far
From Bangkok, ThailandComments about AeroKatOur asthmatic cat, Sumi, has been using this product for a few months now, and I just bought a 2nd one to have as a spare, because we live in Thailand, and this product makes such a huge difference to her life that I want to be sure she never has to do without it. We worried her kidneys were being damaged by her oral steroid (prednisolone) medication, but there weren't many options living in Africa and Asia. Our vet here told us we should try an inhaled version of the medication, but we didn't know this sort of product existed for cats until my daughter sent me the link. I was skeptical my fairly opinionated cat would let me use it, but she really hasn't objected at all. It's super easy to use, easy to measure the dose by counting the breaths, and we've been able to wean her off her oral steroid and bronchodilator and her kidney function tests are bouncing back to normal. We're relieved and she's happy. She much prefers this to the pills being put down her throat twice a day! Count us as very satisfied customers! -
So easy and great quality-of-life improvement!
From New York, NYComments about AeroKatOur cat Veronica has asthma and also chronic renal disease, so we could not control her asthma with oral or injected steroids, even though cats tolerate steroids well. Her kidneys could not take it. Our vet suggested that an inhaler could work because this delivery system would not impact her kidneys. I was nervous about using the Aerokat, but it is ridiculously easy. Veronica gets two puffs once a day and has improved dramatically. The attacks aren't completely gone -- our vet said they wouldn't be -- but there are far fewer, which is wonderful for her and for us, too. -
Ingenious Device
From Baldwinsville, New YorkComments about AeroKatThis allows me to deliver my cat's asthma medication with ease. She adapted quickly to the mask. She has not had one asthma attack in two months since using the chamber to deliver the medication. -
It does the job
From Ridgecrest, CA, USAComments about AeroKatI am currently using this on my asthmatic cat and have used it in other households because I am a petsitter. It works well and is easy to use. With that said, I would like to review it again in a year and see how it has held up to the task. -
Well designed tool
From Puyallup, WA, USAComments about AeroKatCaveat: there doesn't seem to be much (any?) choice in similar products and I had to buy this for my cat who recently developed asthma. The Aerokat was demonstrated at my vet visit and recommended. It does make administering asthma inhaler medication a simple process. My cat got used to the routine quickly and it is now quick and stress free for her. The high price is the only think preventing 5 stars, I think $69 for a plastic tube and cup is ridiculous, but that's what happens when one manufacturer controls the supply... -
Great Tool to Administer Inhaler!
From MassachusettsComments about AeroKatWhen the vet suggested that we give our cat an inhaler for her recently-developed dry cough, I was hesitant. After all, how was I to give a cat that had a relapse after having a feeding tube who did acrobatics to get out of a harness and remove a collar because she didn't want a temporary nasal feeding tube, an inhaler? Being on prednisone for liver inflammation, her glucose levels had become very erratic. Not wanting her to become a diabetic, vet said inhaler was the best way for her to be medicated. Upon her suggestion, I ordered this device. I have to say the cat doesn't particularly like it, but she has learned to tolerate it. Now that she is better, I swear she counts to 5 and then the big paw comes up to remove it from her muzzle! Requires cleaning once a week. Not a big deal. It comes with two mouth pieces, so you can make sure to obtain the correct fit. Our other cat enjoyed the sample of cat treats. The one that needs the inhaler won't eat them anymore because she associates cat treats with being sick. The only downside is that it is pretty expensive. But, the inhaler is much more expensive and it's nice to know that this helps assure that the meds don't go to waste. -

From Eugene, OR, USAComments about AeroKatI bought the AeroKat Feline Aerosol Chamber when my veterinarian suggested it could help my kitty with her severe asthma. I have been using AeroKat for my cat for three years. I wonder how long the product last? When shall I replace with the new chamber??

According to the manufacturer, it is recommended to replace the chamber every 12 months; the medication can deposit on the valves creating a film, leading to suboptimal performance over time.

Are the replacement masks for Aerokat compatible with Aerodawg chamber? Why is the price of a medium replacement mask for Aerokat different with a medium replacement mask for Aerodawg? 12.99 and 17.99.?
-
The replacement masks are universal and compatible with both the AeroKat and AeroDawg chambers. We apologize for that price difference and that has since been corrected. All replacement masks for the AeroDawg and AeroKat chambers are now priced the same unless prices change on a future date.

What is the dimension of the connector for the mask? I need to see if this will fit with the unit that I have.?

How can it be that the flow-vu indicator " does not impact the delivery of medication to your pet?" It seems that the indicator moves whenever the chamber valve is opened, so if the indicator isn't moving doesn't that have to mean that the way to the chamber is still closed, and therefore no medication is being delivered??
-
The flow-vu indicator is designed to help determine how many breaths your cat has taken. The inhalation valve is an extra sensitive, low resistance valve that is designed to respond to shallow low volume breaths. Therefore, this valve opens up during an inhalation to allow the medication to be delivered. The chamber and flow-vu indicator close to prevent medication loss while the cat is exhaling. If the flow-vu indicator on your device does not move at all, be sure the mask is placed securely to your cat’s face. For detailed instructions on using and cleaning the AeroKat Feline Aerosol Chamber, read the PDF under the 'Package Insert' tab on the product page. Please consult your veterinarian regarding questions or concerns with this product.

Does the facemask attach firmly to the chamber so that you do not need to hold the facemask? I purchased a Vortex and to my disbelief saw that you must hold the facemask with one hand and the chamber with the other. I guess you hold the cat with your feet.?

Hello, I use a cpap machine for sleep disorders and clean the mask and tubing with the SoClean sanitizing machine. Would using the sanitizer be a good way to clean my cats aerosol chamber too??
-
According to the manufacturer, the AeroKat should only be cleaned by soaking in warm, soapy water with mild liquid dish detergent, rinsed in clean water, and left to air dry. No cleaning data using SoClean on AeroKat exists, thus proper performance of AeroKat may not be guaranteed after cleaning. Please consult your veterinarian for further questions or concerns regarding cleaning instructions.

I know this works perfectly with a puff inhaler, but will it work with a diskus type inhaler??
-
AeroKat is only compatible with metered dose inhalers, also known as "puff" or aerosol type inhalers. Diskus is a dry powder inhaler that does not contain any propellants and the contents are not under pressure, and must be inhaled directly through the device. Diskus also has a mouthpiece designed specifically for human mouths, making it incompatible with chamber devices like the AeroKat.
