What is the AeroKat Feline Aerosol Chamber for Cats?
- The AeroKat Feline Aerosol Chamber delivers inhaled medication into your cat's lungs to help them breathe easier.
- The AeroKat Feline Aerosol Chamber is designed for puffer or Metered Dose Inhalers to administer aerosol medications.
Why is the AeroKat Feline Aerosol Chamber used for cats?
- The AeroKat Feline Aerosol Chamber makes administering aerosol medications easier by combining a special chamber and a contoured mask that work together with a prescription "puffer" inhaler.
- The mask fits snuggly over your cat's mouth and nose, and the convenient Flow-vu indicator moves with respiration so you can track the dosage your cat receives.
- The aerosol medication mixes with air in the chamber and helps ensure that your cat will breathe the drug into the lungs instead of swallowing it.
What else should I know about the AeroKat Feline Aerosol Chamber?
- AeroKat works with most puffer or Metered Dose Inhalers (MDI).
- AeroKat does not work with dry-powder inhalers.
- The Flow-vu indicator takes the guesswork of dosing.
- AeroKat is easy to clean.
- The chamber comes with two mask sizes to fit any cat.
- The medication is sold separately.
- Metered Dose Inhalers can be prescribed by your veterinarian and purchased from VetRxDirect.
- It is recommended the AeroKat Chamber be replaced every 12 months. With daily use, medication can deposit on the valves creating a whitish film. This build-up could lead to suboptimal performance over time. To help ensure optimal drug delivery the manufacturer recommends the AeroKat chamber be replaced annually.
- The AeroKat comes with two sizes of feline masks – approximately 1.5" and 2" in diameter - to fit most cats. A larger 3" mask can be purchased separately.
- You can check the size you need by printing this AeroKat Mask Sizer (PDF)
What problems could my cat have with the AeroKat Feline Aerosol Chamber?
- With daily use, medication can deposit on the valves creating a whitish film. This build-up could lead to suboptimal performance over time. Make sure that you clean the AeroKat regularly and replace it yearly.
How do you use the AeroKat Feline Aerosol Chamber?
- This device should be used only on the recommendation of your veterinarian. Consult with your veterinarian for advice and instructions.

Controlled My Cat's Suffering
I have been using the AeroKat Asthma Chamber for over 7 years now. I had 2 cats that suffered from asthma (and suffering it myself, it broke my heart knowing how they felt). Prior to AeroKat, they were getting Depo shots every 3 months, so they had to be tested for diabetes, etc. It also caused them great stress going to the vet for a shot so often.
I expected to have a severe problem getting them to accept the inhalater, but letting them smell it for several days it turned out to be no problem. With the AeroKat Chamber, the medication is going directly into their lungs where they need it, and not throughout their bodies and causing damage to other organs.
Bless you Trudell for this wonderful invention!

ATTENTION ALL ORIENTAL SHORTHAIR & SIAMESE OWNERS!!
I cannot say whether the AeroKat on its own is a good or bad product, but what I can say is that if you have an Oriental Shorthair (or Siamese I would imagine), even the small mask may not be a tight, and sealed fit. Not sure if it has more to do with the long muzzle, or the general size of my kitty's face. We haven't even started the meds yet, but we have been training with the small mask for a while now. My cat is usually pretty compliant with meds, and things being done to her, but even with treat rewards, she is not adapting well to the mask. Could be because the mask ends up fitting her all the way to her eyes. This is very frustrating, as I really would like to see if the meds help her extremely bad coughing, and assumed asthma. I'm giving the product three stars, only because it SEEMS like a good idea. Sorry, if you have an "angle head" style cat, and this discourages you. I just know I would have liked a warning before getting my hopes up.

If your cat needs an inhaler, this is the one.
From UndisclosedComments about AeroKat Feline Aerosol Chamber, Flow-Vu Indicator, Two MasksThis is really great. There are a lot of videos online that demonstrate how to use this. It takes three adults to hold my cat down and administer this but I think it will get better over time. There is a little green flap in this device that shows you how many breaths your cat has taken which is vey helpful. -
Wonderful product.

Q & A

I just received a new aerokat and it appears the mask has changed... It has a hard plastic end which connects to the aerokat and it is now shaped differently. Did I get a defective chamber??
-
The masks have not changed that we know of. You will want to contact the manufacturer to see if that is a defective product or not. Their phone number is 1-800-465-3296. Thank you, VetRxDirect

About how long do the masks last before they need to be replaced??
-
It is recommended they be replaced every year just because the silicon can start to degrade. Thank you, VetRxDirect

There seems to be a small little plastic piece that is placed on the end of cylinder (opposite end to where the puffer is) that the mask fits into. Does this come with the mask? I lost this with the mask. ?
-
No the mask is the only thing that comes with a replacement mask. That part comes with the chamber. Thank you, VetRxDirect

Can I get a extra back plate where inhaler is placed when ordered?
-
Marc, We actually do not sell those. The only replacements for the inhaler that we carry are the masks. For any other parts you would need to contact the manufacturer to see if they would be able to provide you with that. Thank you, VetRxDirect

We are not the manufacturer so we don't know for sure if it would work but people use Aerodawgs on pugs which also have flat faces. To get a more accurate answer, you may want to contact the manufacturer directly. The manufacturer is Trudell and their phone number is 1-800-465-3296. Thank you, VetRxDirect

Hello, What is the expiration date for the medicine? Thank you ?
-
The Aerokat is not a medication. It is a chamber that is used to administer the inhaled aerosol medication so it does not have an expiration date. Thank you, VetRxDirect

Is it possible that over a period of time that using the Aerokat with an inhaler will discolor the fur around my cat's nose area. If so, is this harmful? He has been on the inhaler for 3 months 2 times a day, and I noticed a discoloration. I am concerned?
-
I have a chocolate Ragdoll and have used this product for years...it was recommended by my vet after experiencing something similiar to take a damp cloth and wipe of nose and mouth after administering the medication!! It does work!!
Community Answer -
Cherl, According to the manufacturer of Aerokat, the mask itself should not cause any irritation, but some of the medications being used have been reported to cause a skin rash on some cats; although they have not had any specific reports of hair discoloration. They suggest removing the mask from the Aerokat device and rinsing it (do not rinse the entire device) with clear water, as well as wiping the area the mask has touched on the your pet’s nose and mouth with a wet cloth or paper towel after each use. It would also be important to speak with your pet’s veterinarian who could diagnose the cause of the hair discoloration and make a recommendation. Thank you, VetRxDirect

Also, is there approx. time frame that I may expect to see improvement in my cat? Thanks in advance and for your very nice customer service.?
-
A 2-week treatment with Flovent (fluticasone) may show signs of improvement but it may take longer for you to see benefit in your cat’s health depending on the severity of disease. We recommend that you follow up with your cat's veterinarian after a month to determine if the treatment is working well for your cat. Thank you, VetRxDirect

Just want to verify again (per what I saw as your answer on a previous post) that if my cat gets startled & pulls away, that if I place the mask back quickly, the Flovent is still in there. I'm worried the Flovent escapes quickly. It is very expensive.?
-
We recommend that after actuation of the aerosol inhaler that you place the attached AeroKat spacer up to your pet’s face as soon as possible, if you're unable to actuate the medication while the mask is held to the pet's face. It’s difficult to say whether or not your pet is getting the full dose if there is a short delay between actuating the dose and the pet breathing in the spacer. Thank you, VetRxDirect
