What is the AeroDawg Canine Aerosol Chamber for Dogs?
- The Aerodawg Canine Aerosol Chamber delivers inhaled medication into your dog's lungs to help them breathe easier.
- The AeroDawg Canine Aerosol Chamber is designed for puffer or Metered Dose Inhalers to administer aerosol medications.
Why is the AeroDawg Chamber used for dogs?
- The Aerodawg Canine Aerosol Chamber makes administering aerosol medications easier by combining a special chamber and a contoured mask that work together with a prescription "puffer" inhaler.
- The mask fits snuggly over your dog's mouth and nose and the convenient Flow-vu indicator moves with respiration so you can track the dosage your dog receives.
- The aerosol medication mixes with air in the chamber and helps ensure that your dog will breathe the drug into the lungs instead of swallowing it.
What else should I know about the AeroDawg Chamber?
- AeroDawg works with most puffer or Metered Dose Inhalers (MDI).
- AeroDawg does not work with dry-powder inhalers.
- The Flow-vu indicator takes the guesswork of dosing.
- AeroDawg is easy to clean.
- The chamber comes with two mask sizes to fit any dog.
- The medication is sold separately.
- Metered Dose Inhalers can be prescribed by your veterinarian and purchased from VetRxDirect.
- It is recommended the AeroDawg Chamber be replaced every 12 months. With daily use, medication can deposit on the valves creating a whitish film. This build-up could lead to suboptimal performance over time. To help ensure optimal drug delivery the manufacturer recommends the AeroDawg chamber be replaced annually.
- The small AeroDawg is designed for dogs 20 lbs or less and includes a small mask and medium mask.
- The large AeroDawg is designed for dogs over 20 lbs and includes a medium and large mask.
- You can check the size you need by printing this AeroDawg Mask Sizer (PDF).
What problems could my dog have with the AeroDawg Chamber?
- With daily use, medication can deposit on the valves creating a whitish film. This build-up could lead to suboptimal performance over time. Make sure that you clean the AeroDawg regularly and replace it yearly.
How Do I Use the AeroDawg Chamber?
- This device should be used only on the recommendation of your veterinarian. Consult with your veterinarian for advice and instructions.

Great Product!! Wish I had found out about it sooner!
My dog Dewy has been suffering from a horrible night-time cough due to chronic bronchitis for months. Neither of us had been getting sleep during this time. I had been giving him prednisone twice a day - hydocan pills every 3-4 hours - cough syrup every 4 hours - prozac at night to help him stay calm and sleep...NOTHING WAS WORKING. My vet suggested the Flovent which I purchased the AeroDawg for. My concern was that my dog would fight taking it - squirm away - and just make it impossible to get the medicine into his lungs. My dog is not the most co-operative with things like that - so I really did not feel like it would work - but of course I had to try it. After I got it I spent about 10-15 minutes introducing it to him with treats of course! That's all it took for him to be comfortable. I gave him his first "puff" and he amazingly sat still with me and took all of his breaths! I was SHOCKED and of course so thrilled. He has been taking his twice daily puffs for about 1 week now and I am thrilled to report he has been sleeping through the night!! I have not been giving him any of his other meds! SO - anyone out there with a dog with similar issues - PLEASE try the Flovent, or whatever inhalant your Vet suggests, and get the AeroDawg. I seriously felt this was my last ditch effort to find something that would get his cough under control. Of course it is the RX that has helped him, but without the AeroDawg I wouldn't be able to get the RX into his body! It is also very easy to use and clean. I have arthritis in my hands and was concerned that I wouldn't be able to hold my dog, hold the AeroDawg, press the inhaler..all at once with hands that don't work so well. I have had no problem at all!

AeroDawg CAC - small
We bought this product for our 12 year old miniature/toy poodle with diabetes and chronic bronchitis. While the spacer works well, neither of the masks provided worked AT ALL. The smallest one was too short pushing his snout against the end, and the larger one was so big that medication escaped even when you pinched the bottom to seal it to the face. In order to used the spacer, we had to purchase a small feline mask for anesthesia from our vet. The masks and poor design was disappointing; however, the spacer works fine.

Excellent product, excellent price!
From Chicago, ILComments about AeroDawgI have a 13 year old beagle with LAD (lower airway disease) diagnosed via bronchoscopy. We tried an oral medication, and that didn't work. Now he sits twice a day for his inhaler with the Aerodawg. I love that it came with two different sized rubber pieces for his snout; this ensure a proper fit so the medication doesn't escape. With the Aerodawg and the inhaler, we now hear NO COUGHING! -

How to clean after using ??
-
Included with the AeroDawg chamber is a diagram depicting the following cleaning instructions which may also be found on the manufacturers website: 1 Remove the backpiece (A). To detach the frontpiece (B), twist chamber as shown and then remove mask (C) from frontpiece. 2 Soak the parts for 15 minutes in a mild solution of liquid dish detergent and lukewarm clean water. Agitate gently and then rinse parts in clean water. 3 Shake out excess water and allow to air dry in a vertical position. Ensure parts are dry before reassembly. 4 To reassemble, fit the mask on the frontpiece and then place frontpiece on the end of the chamber and twist firmly until securely locked into position. Center the Alignment Feature (D) on the backpiece with the Flow-Vu* Indicator (E) as shown. Press firmly to attach the backpiece. Notes: • If you notice medication build-up in your chamber, wash the inside of the chamber gently with a soft cloth. • Do not boil, sterilize or clean in a dishwasher. • Product should be replaced after 12 months of continuous use. Cautions: • Do not leave the chamber unattended with children.

We have an 18-lb. rescue cat who was neutered later in life. He has a BIG "Tom Cat" head, and the larger of the AeroKat masks will not cover both his nose and mouth. Is there a larger size mask that I can order??
-
The two masks included with the AeroKat are approximately 1.5inch (small) and 2inch (medium) in diameter. The largest mask is 3inch (large) in diameter and is made to fit animals 20+ pounds. The AeroDawg and AeroKat are the same product per the manufacturer. This mask can be purchased under the AeroDawg and according to the manufacturer will fit the AeroKat chamber.

I have a 5 pound Pomeranian should I get for small aero dawg or the small Aero Kat??
-
According to the manufacturer, the small AeroDawg is designed for dogs less than 20 pounds and comes with both a medium size and a small size mask to ensure a proper fit. In your case the small mask may work better, but the size of the dog is not the only factor for mask sizing, the shape of their muzzle is also important. AeroDawg is designed specifically for dog muzzles and may be more likely to fit the shape of your dog’s nose.

May I know whether it can be switched to dry powder aerosol??
-
The manufacturer states that AeroDawg CAC is designed for use with metered dose inhalers only. Do not use with a dry powder inhaler as it will be ineffective.

I just bought a small AeroDawg for my 23lb shitzu. I was hoping that the medium mask that comes with it would fit but it's too small. The medium perfectly fits my 7lb chihuahua mix! So my question is: is the large mask compatible with the chamber that came with small.?
-
The manufacturer states that the large replacement mask will fit over the connector to the AeroDawg Small and will be compatible with this chamber.

I have a pediatric chamber because that is all we could get our hands on for immediate use. I am wondering if your replacement mask will fit on my chamber. I have a pediatric AeroChamber Plus Flow-Vu the diameter of where the mask gets changed is 1.5 inches. To change the mask it just twists off and there are 4 slides (for last of a better term) that hold it on.?
-
We only carry the AeroDawg and AeroCat animal masks. According to the manufacturer the human chambers are not compatible with the veterinary chambers due to the different shapes and fit of the masks.

What is the proper way to measure the my dog's snout to insure I purchase the right size inhaler??
-
AeroDawg chambers come in two sizes, small and large. The small chamber comes with a small and medium mask. The large chamber comes with a medium and large mask. The manufacturer has a printable sizing chart that you can use to determine the correct size chamber and mask. This mask sizer can be found on the product page under the "package insert" tab.

I have a 20 pound dog that is a poodle mix. He is a rescue that needs to lose weight - do you think I should order the small or large apparatus??
-
The Small AeroDawg is rated for dogs up to 20lbs and includes a small and medium mask. The large AeroDawg is rated for dogs over 20 pounds and includes a medium and large mask. If your dog weighs 20lbs and is expected to lose weight, you may choose the small. If you are unsure about the correct size mask, the manufacturer has a size chart that can help determine the appropriate size. This can be found on the VetRxDirect website under the "more info tab" or follow this link. If you have additional concerns about sizing, please discuss this with your veterinarian.
