What is the AeroDawg Canine Aerosol Chamber for Dogs?
- The Aerodawg Canine Aerosol Chamber delivers inhaled medication into your dog's lungs to help them breathe easier.
- The AeroDawg Canine Aerosol Chamber is designed for puffer or Metered Dose Inhalers to administer aerosol medications.
Why is the AeroDawg Chamber used for dogs?
- The Aerodawg Canine Aerosol Chamber makes administering aerosol medications easier by combining a special chamber and a contoured mask that work together with a prescription "puffer" inhaler.
- The mask fits snuggly over your dog's mouth and nose and the convenient Flow-vu indicator moves with respiration so you can track the dosage your dog receives.
- The aerosol medication mixes with air in the chamber and helps ensure that your dog will breathe the drug into the lungs instead of swallowing it.
What else should I know about the AeroDawg Chamber?
- AeroDawg works with most puffer or Metered Dose Inhalers (MDI).
- AeroDawg does not work with dry-powder inhalers.
- The Flow-vu indicator takes the guesswork of dosing.
- AeroDawg is easy to clean.
- The chamber comes with two mask sizes to fit any dog.
- The medication is sold separately.
- Metered Dose Inhalers can be prescribed by your veterinarian and purchased from VetRxDirect.
- It is recommended the AeroDawg Chamber be replaced every 12 months. With daily use, medication can deposit on the valves creating a whitish film. This build-up could lead to suboptimal performance over time. To help ensure optimal drug delivery the manufacturer recommends the AeroDawg chamber be replaced annually.
- The small AeroDawg is designed for dogs 20 lbs or less and includes a small mask and medium mask.
- The large AeroDawg is designed for dogs over 20 lbs and includes a medium and large mask.
- You can check the size you need by printing this AeroDawg Mask Sizer (PDF).
What problems could my dog have with the AeroDawg Chamber?
- With daily use, medication can deposit on the valves creating a whitish film. This build-up could lead to suboptimal performance over time. Make sure that you clean the AeroDawg regularly and replace it yearly.
How Do I Use the AeroDawg Chamber?
- This device should be used only on the recommendation of your veterinarian. Consult with your veterinarian for advice and instructions.
For additional information about Aerodawg Canine Aerosol Chamber, visit the manufacturer Trudell Animal Health's web page on the AeroDawg.
Will I get what I see in the picture?
- AeroDawg is a brand name. You will receive the exact brand that you request.

Great Product!! Wish I had found out about it sooner!
My dog Dewy has been suffering from a horrible night-time cough due to chronic bronchitis for months. Neither of us had been getting sleep during this time. I had been giving him prednisone twice a day - hydocan pills every 3-4 hours - cough syrup every 4 hours - prozac at night to help him stay calm and sleep...NOTHING WAS WORKING. My vet suggested the Flovent which I purchased the AeroDawg for. My concern was that my dog would fight taking it - squirm away - and just make it impossible to get the medicine into his lungs. My dog is not the most co-operative with things like that - so I really did not feel like it would work - but of course I had to try it. After I got it I spent about 10-15 minutes introducing it to him with treats of course! That's all it took for him to be comfortable. I gave him his first "puff" and he amazingly sat still with me and took all of his breaths! I was SHOCKED and of course so thrilled. He has been taking his twice daily puffs for about 1 week now and I am thrilled to report he has been sleeping through the night!! I have not been giving him any of his other meds! SO - anyone out there with a dog with similar issues - PLEASE try the Flovent, or whatever inhalant your Vet suggests, and get the AeroDawg. I seriously felt this was my last ditch effort to find something that would get his cough under control. Of course it is the RX that has helped him, but without the AeroDawg I wouldn't be able to get the RX into his body! It is also very easy to use and clean. I have arthritis in my hands and was concerned that I wouldn't be able to hold my dog, hold the AeroDawg, press the inhaler..all at once with hands that don't work so well. I have had no problem at all!

AeroDawg CAC - small
We bought this product for our 12 year old miniature/toy poodle with diabetes and chronic bronchitis. While the spacer works well, neither of the masks provided worked AT ALL. The smallest one was too short pushing his snout against the end, and the larger one was so big that medication escaped even when you pinched the bottom to seal it to the face. In order to used the spacer, we had to purchase a small feline mask for anesthesia from our vet. The masks and poor design was disappointing; however, the spacer works fine.

Perfecr to go with inhalers
From UndisclosedComments about AeroDawg Sm Dogs up to 20lbs, Chamber, Flow-Vu Indicator, 2 MasksI purchased this to go along with an inhaler my 4 year old pup needs. It fits pretty well. She always falls in between sizes. I think the large would be too big for her. But it seems to do the job for her. -

This Chamber helped save my goat with respiratory issues
From UndisclosedComments about AeroDawg Lg Dogs over 20 lbs, Chamber, Flow-Vu Indicator, 2 MasksI bought the AeroDawg in hopes that it would help our dogs and goats when they had respiratory issues. I used it on one of my LaMancha bucklings yesterday, who was fighting pneumonia and having breathing issues. The chamber delivered the medication like a charm ... the goat didn't seem to mind it. I'm happy to say "Buster" is doing well today and acting like a normal goat.-

Thank God for this Aerodawg chamber
From Maple Ridge CanadaComments about AeroDawgI needed something fast to help with my dogs puffer for her Chronic Bronchitis Cough-all day long! With this canine aerosol chamber my dog gets her medicine right to her lungs-bronchial area! She is so calm & relaxed while using this! She relaxes so much i have to hold her head up so she wont fall asleep. I do a count of 3 before engaging the inhaler so she knows when to expect to noisy puffer to go off! Plus i have a timer on my phone i use so my girl knows when the process is over!! I put the timer on at 2mins then put over her mouth by then the timer is about 1:45mins,it goes off & she pulls her face away from the mask. I always tell her she's a good girl & pet her! I used to give her a treat after in the beginning but now she is so used to it! She knows what to expect each time because of my 3 count down & the timer really lets her know when it's coming and when it's over!! I highly recommend doing both! -
Great helper
From UndisclosedComments about AeroDawg Sm Dogs up to 20lbs, Chamber, Flow-Vu Indicator, 2 MasksMy dog has breathing issues and chronic bronchitis, and she adapted to breathing in this after one try. She loves it, and so do I!! It's a quality item. -
Excellent design & product
From Fort Worth, TXComments about AeroDawgAfter researching and conversation with my Veterinarian on getting help with nighttime labored breathing for our 13 yr old JRT, found AeroDawg and it works great! This is such a simple to use device, administers the right amount each time (twice/day), and our dog comes right up to it after we take it out of the box, we keep it in. Easy to clean/weekly. With the Flovent 125 mcg that we give Buddy, it really helps. Thanks AeroDawg & Trudell Animal Health, who is the manufacturer. I didn't mind paying that 1 time charge as it is fantastic!-

Q & A

How tight does the mask have to be on the dog's face? Is it hard to do by yourself??
-
Typically, it is recommended that the mask fit snugly over the mouth and nose, without squishing their face uncomfortably. With some longer-snout breeds, the manufacturer recommends going with a slightly smaller mask and covering the nostrils only. You are not looking for an airtight seal, however, any gaps between mask and face will permit medication to be lost. There are videos available online that detail the proper administration using an AeroDawg, the manufacturer has information here: http://www.trudellmed.com/animal-health/aerodawg. Whether or not it is difficult to administer by yourself will depend greatly on your pet's temperament. Thank you, VetRxDirect

The inhaler can be purchased with 120, 240 or 360 doses. I'm not sure if they differ in size. Will this work on all three dosage inhalers??
-
Every inhaler that we stock works with the AeroDawg chamber. Without knowing the specific inhaler your pet has been prescribed, we cannot say definitively that the AeroDawg would work with the inhaler, however, there is a small amount of flexibility in the opening where the inhaler connects with the AeroDawg chamber and most inhalers do work with it. Thank you, VetRxDirect

Hi - my dog is about 20.5 pounds. He is a Cavalier King Charles spaniel. Would he be better with the small or medium size? Thanks!?
-
Robin, The AeroDawg chambers each come with two different masks. The small AeroDawg comes with a small (1.5 inch) and medium (2 inch) mask. The large AeroDawg comes with a medium and a large (3 inch) mask. We recommend following the manufacturer recommendations for choosing the correct size; since your dog is over 20 pounds, the manufacturer would recommend the large AeroDawg. With either size AeroDawgh, you will receive a medium mask, which will likely be the one that fits best. In ensuring the proper fit for the mask, you want to have a comfortable fit over the mouth and nose, but it does not have to be an airtight seal. Thank you, VetRxDirect

I have a Boston Terrier with chronic bronchitis. She is a very small Boston -- 12 pounds. but she has that broader Boston muzzle. So I don't know what size she needs. Can you give me an idea? Thank you! Bonnie?
-
Bonnie, The Small AeroDawg Canine Aerosol Chamber is probably the best fit for your 12 pound Boston Terrier. There are two masks included of different sizes, approximately 1.5 inches and 2 inches in diameter, for best fit. The mask only needs to cover the front of the mouth and the nostrils. The jowls do not need to be covered for proper use of the AeroDawg. Thank you, VetRxDirect

my dog is considered a small dog, but she weighs 27 pounds. do i purchase the small dog one or the large dog one??
-
Silvia, The AeroDawg for Small Dogs comes with one small and one medium mask. The AeroDawg for Large Dogs comes with one medium and one large mask. The chambers are identical on both products. The masks approximate diameters are as follows: Small mask: 1.5 inches Medium mask: 2 inches Large mask: 3 inches The mask only needs to cover your dog's nostrils and front of the mouth. It does not need to cover the your dog's jowls. The manufacturer recommends the large AeroDawg for dogs over 20 pounds. Thank you, VetRxDirect

-
Sonia, While the AeroDawg is an OTC item, a prescription is required for the inhalers to use with the chamber. We're sorry, but we do not ship outside of the U.S. We recommend contacting the manufacturer, Trudell Animal Health, for shipment options to Canada. Thank you, VetRxDirect

I have a AeroChamber Plus spacer that my child used when he was small. Would this small canine mask fit on the kid version? The kids mask is 1.5" in diameter at the point where it connects to the chamber. Please advise. Thank you!?
-
Kristin, The replacement mask on its own does not fit the AeroChamber Plus* Flow-Vu* Chamber for humans. You would need the round rubber adapter from the AeroDawg* Chamber. This adapter is only available by purchasing the AeroDawg Chamber. Thank you, VetRxDirect

Hi,I have a dachshunds who weighs 20-21 pounds. I am unsure of which size I need. Can you help?Thank you.?
-
Jennifer, Both AeroDawg chambers are the same size. The difference between the two products is the sizes of masks. The small AeroDawg comes with one small and one medium mask, the large AeroDawg comes with one medium and one large mask. For your reference, the small mask is 1.5 inches is diameter and the medium mask is 2 inches. The large mask is 3 inches in diameter and most likely would be too big for your dog. The masks only need to cover the nostrils and front of your dog's mouth. We hope this extra information helps you decide on a size of AeroDawg canine aerosol chamber. Thank you, VetRxDirect
