Not as good as deworming pills.
From UndisclosedComments about profenderThe first time I used it, it seemed to help my cat. One Vet told me it works as well as the oral deworming, but another Vet said that her experience is that it's not as good as the oral. I'm going back to the pills, though difficult to give to our cat! My cat started to lose a little weight again, which is often a sign he exhibits when he needs deworming (for him, several times a year!) -
Easy to Use for Worming
From UndisclosedComments about profenderEasy to use for a cat who is hard to pill, I just put this on his neck for worming. -
Saves Your Fingers
From UndisclosedComments about profenderWe use this on our cat Mandu and our front porch semi-feral cat Oscar. It is the easiest way to deworm a cat. If anyone has tried to do this with a pill and still has all of their fingers, this product is SO much easier and works just as well. No side effects were noted (other than two cats being totally hacked off at me). -
If needed, definitely would purchase.
From undisclosedComments about profenderTopical worm treatment, it was just great.
Q & A

After treating my cat with this medicine for tapeworms, is it normal 2 or 3 days later to find another worm segment on her after not seeing any since after treatment??
-
Profender is a topical solution indicated for killing hookworms, roundworms, and/or tapeworms. The manufacturer states that usually one treatment is effective, but sometimes a second dose is required. It is recommended to give a second dose 30 days after the first dose if necessary. If the problem has not resolved after a second dose, contact your veterinarian to ensure proper treatment for your cat is not delayed.

What species of round worms does Profender kill? Does it kill trichinosis??
-
According to the information on the product label by the manufacturer, profender is indicated for treatment and control of roundworm infections caused by Toxocara cati (adults and fourth stage larvae). Will it hurt a kitten to lick the application area??
-
According to the manufacturer's package insert, do not allow the kitten or any other household pets to lick the application site within an hour of applying the medication. Exposure to Profender from licking/ingestion can cause salivation and vomiting. If there are other household pets, keep them separated to prevent licking of the application site. Additionally, Profender should be applied as the hair is parted on the back of the kitten's neck at the base of the head. This reduces the possibility of the kitten licking the area and ingesting the medication. Contact your cat's veterinarian for further questions regarding the safety of Profender.
